Victoria’s Disney Film Theory & Frozen Thoughts

In our very first Trip a Little List Fantastic episode, Blayke and I had a long conversation that went very off-topic. We discussed Hans from Frozen as a villain and some of our issues with Frozen as a whole. During this conversation, I also explained my sort-of theory of how Disney films have functioned and changed over the years. I cut all of this from the episode because it was off-topic and long, but since it was a pretty good explanation, I wanted to include it here for anyone who might be interested in hearing what I have to say. This will probably come up in a later episode at some point as I refine my thoughts as we watch through the films.

You can listen to the clip (about 20 minutes long) here!

Peter Pan Storyboard

Mariana Sousa, a librarian and listener from Boston, MA, sent us some storyboard images from the bird shaving scene in Peter Pan! We thought we’d share them here since we can’t show them on the episode.

She said, “I even own original storyboards to the scene where the mother seagull uses Captain Hook’s towel as her nest and Smee shaves her rear end. Is this Disney’s goofiest scene? Empty nests and headless pirates! Also, that poor momma seagull when she gets the aftershave 😀 she reminds me of Home Alone.(see attached storyboard pic with “Mama Gull” and Hook getting egg on the face, literally!)”

Thanks for sending them in, Mariana! We loved seeing the original look for this classic scene!
